Band of Skulls

Tricia and I went to see the Band of Skulls today at the 98.7 studio with about 25 other people. I won this from collecting points on their website, and bidding on this prize. My sister Cathi got me into this, and so far it's been fun. Here's a picture of me with the band.
The show was great. They were interviewed by the local DJ and played 4 songs, including their hit I Know What I Am, along with their upcoming hit Friends from the New Moon soundtrack.

Tool and Tricky

Just got back from one of the best shows I've ever been to, and my favorite band, Tool. They played at the Verizon Wireless Ampitheatre in Irvine and just rocked for two hours straight. It was great. They had huge screens in the back with the videos, animations and claymations of Adam Jones playing. The stage setup was kinda weird. They had two platforms in the back; one for the drummer, and one for Maynard, the lead singer, and the two guitarist were up front. I just thought that it was an interesting layout. Plus these two "performance artists" came out a couple times contorting and hanging from the rafters... very disturbing, but intriguing at the same time... much like a car crash.

Oh yeah, Tricky opened and joined Tool for a song or two. We got to see half of the opening show and that was pretty damned good.

Tenacious D

Went to see The D tonight at the Wiltern Theatre in LA. They rock! This is the third time I've seen them, and it's a blast every time. The first time was at the Actors' Gang Theatre, which holds about 40 people tops. It was amazing to see how big the crowd got in less than three years. The Naked Trucker opened. I can't even explain how funny these guys were. They did a Snoop Doggy Dogg rap that had us on the floor laughing.

SIGGRAPH 2001

Went to SIGGRAPH 2001 with Steve today. I usually go to these conferences when they come to Los Angeles. But this one was probably the best because Steve knew a lot of people there from when he worked at Soft Image. So we got to go to their party afterwards, which turned out to be pretty cool.

After the party, we drove down to The Wiltern to try and scalp Tool tickets... No dice.

Check out this other Tool page called DiSSECTIONAL.
